    Scenes from an Organized Life
    Scenes from an Organized Life

Imagine a more serene life where you never waste time looking for clothing, papers, or tools — a life where there is a place for everything and everything is in its place.  If  obtaining this life appeals to you, consider a professional organizer!  This week’s post continue’s our last post about the benefits of hiring a professional to guide you in your quest for an organized and more serene life.

As we noted in our last blog post, hiring a professional organizer allows you another set of ‘eyes’ without the emotional attachment or ‘stories’ related to your ‘stuff.’  This assistance is invaluable for everyone from folks preparing to move to those who just want the serenity of an organized home and life.

Josh Stine of Organized By Josh, reminds us that the first step in organization is getting rid of items you don’t need, have outgrown, are duplicates, or are no longer useful.  Get rid of items that don’t give you “joy,” as noted in Marie Kondo’s best-selling books about her Kon Mari method, The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.

Organized By Josh provides services to help you reduce your items before you organize. Although his methods for organizing vary from client to client, Josh notes that, once clients have decreased the number of possessions, extra storage containers or space often become unnecessary.  That being said, items such as drawer organizers can prove very useful in keeping things in order, and are especially beneficial for those who move frequently, as is the case with many in the Washington, D.C.-metro area.

One of the specialities offered by Organized By Josh is digital organization.  This can range from photos to documents to emails.  Josh encourages clients to use cloud backup, as any storage of digital items on a device risks loss when devices ‘die,’ are stolen, or damaged.

The time for a client to have their space and life organized varies on individual needs; Josh’s experience with clients typically ranges from a few days for those in apartments to a month for those with large homes and/or many possessions.

An organized, serene, and streamlined life can be yours — if you’d like assistance, consider hiring a professional organizer.  Check out the National Association of Professional Organizers, www.napo.net, and Organized By Josh, @OrganizedByJosh, www.organizedbyjosh.com and on Facebook at Organized By Josh.
